Lighting the Marine Life

As you begin to research the costs involved in setting up your first marine aquarium, I am confident that you will find that you can spend a little, or a lot (and I do mean a lot!) on lighting.

Because this site is intended for beginners, normal output (NO) fluorescent lighting should be sufficient for a fish only marine aquarium. If you intend on upgrading to a reef aquarium in the future, you might consider spending the extra money and purchasing metal halide or very high output (VHO) fluorescent lighting, but these more expensive alternatives are not necessary for your fish to be happy.
